Light Control Panel
The Revio is a new touch sensitive control, designed for Cooper Industries, and is unlike any other lighting control panel available today.
Extensive customer research has been the driver to develop instantly recognisable, simple, intuitive controls, for the first time user.
The natural layout guides the user to simply press the on/off button or touch the surface of the panel to select the scene or zone they want to control, making it completely intuitive to navigate. Twisting the rotary knob raises or lowers the light levels accordingly. The start point for the design was the premise "if an instruction or guide note is needed then the design has failed".
The power button is easily identifiable - it is softly illuminated when off for easy location in a darkened room. The light icon, rotary control, and liquid glass styled touch pad are complemented with a customisable label Insert. The Insert can be created from any photographic image and created by the customer to, say, match the surrounding wall decoration or to create the scene buttons in any language or graphic symbol. The Insert is simply replaced by lifting off the cover. Scene and zone names on the control panel are backlit and produce an audible confirmation 'click' and are brighter when a scene is selected.
The Revio is the only lighting control user interface simple enough to deliver a full range of control features within the single gang back box.
From technology and market research to production in under six months, this is a good example of client and designers teaming well together to create a very effective product.
